Suzi Browne (nee van Middelkoop) is one of the first in Australia to acquire her Tea Master Certification with Australian Tea Masters in 2012. She also went on to acquire tea blending qualifications. Her goal is to share the art and joy of tea appreciation with others.
Former tea-house proprietor and manager of Tea by the Sea, Suzi continues to share her enthusiasm for, and knowledge of tea with others. As a self-confessed “devotea”, not only does she have a soft spot for drinking and serving quality loose leaf tea (preferably by the sea!), she has also learnt to read the leaves. Lovingly taught and mentored for years by Lindel Barker-Revell – Australia’s leading tea leaf reader for more than 35 years, Suzi continues to have a close association with Tea-Wise. She read regularly at The Langham Hotel (formerly The Observatory Hotel) in The Rocks, Sydney as a divine complement to the hotel’s already divine afternoon tea service for many years. She now offers private readings.
Her love and respect for tea has led her to specialising in bespoke loose leaf tea blends for corporate and special events. With 15+ years in marketing communication and event management both here and in Europe, along with years running her own tearooms serving high tea dubbed as “the best in Sydney” from 2006 – 2012, the move to blending marketing and tea together has been just like adding milk and honey to her favourite cup. Launching Tea by the Sea has not only been a thirst quenching discovery about tea, but also about an insightful voyage about the self.
Suzi specialises in taking tea to the corporate market, presenting it as a special way to take time out, create mindful rituals and build relationships.
Let her bring the tea to your table…and allow your own adventure and dreams to unfurl…
$1 from each tin of bespoke loose leaf tea sold goes to Suzi’s nephew Benz who has Down Syndrome to help with special schooling and healthcare. This is just her way way of saying how thoroughly “tea-lightful” he is. “Thank you for the light you bring to my life!”
